What to do before we arrive

Once you’ve called and arranged for us to come over for an initial consultation you may wonder what your next step is. Here are some points to consider.

1.  DO NOT CLEAN. We need to see how you are really living, not some artificially created environment. If we don’t see real life, we won’t be able to help as much and won’t be able to address the real issues in play.

2.  Before we arrive, eat a good meal. You won’t be able to think clearly and unemotionally if you are hungry.

3.  Children should have a babysitter and pets should be put in a separate area so that we can discuss the matters without interruptions.

4.  Think about which areas and situations bother you the most. Come up with your “top 3” so we can focus on the areas that will make the most impact on your life.

5.  Prepare to have an open mind. Many people have an idea of “the right way” to do something. Usually, it’s the way they have been trying for a long time and it just hasn’t worked, yet. Organization can be a trial and error situation, so we’ll keep adjusting what we’re doing until we find what works for you and what you will be able to maintain after we are done. It won’t do you any good to declutter if you don’t have a way to keep it that way later.

After an initial consultation you may hire us on an hourly basis.  This is what to do before we come back to work with you.

1.  Get a good nights sleep.

2.  Eat a good breakfast including some protein. Sugary food may give you an energy spike but you need food that will give you energy long-term. Balancing your blood sugar all day is a major key to success. You may also wish to have some snacks ready too.

3.  Children should be at a play date or have a babysitter. Pets need to be put in a separate area. Otherwise, you will be dealing with their interruptions rather than concentrating on the task at hand.

4.  Make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. How you look is not important, but if you are wearing tight and restrictive clothing you will be miserable and it will make the decluttering process MUCH more difficult. Besides, you will be getting dusty and dirty, so why ruin nice clothes?

5.  If you work best with background music, find what you like and be prepared to play it. A boom-box is one of the best ways since we’ll be moving things around a lot. Upbeat music is a wonderful choice to work to. Blues and ballads tend to slow people down, so they are not a good choice.

6.  Take a few minutes to get yourself in a positive mood. We are going to be making your life better, TODAY!! Not in 5 years, not “someday”. It’s going to happen NOW!!

  1. I was curious if you ever thought of changing the layout of
your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.

But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
